The dog
So it all began on Thursday (the app and conveniently the day of the week). Having tried all the well known apps, I came across Thursday. The idea behind it is that dating is intentional and not just backwards and forwards talking with no intention to meet. You can only talk to people on the app on a…YOU GUESSED IT; a Thursday. And at midnight; like Cinderella, Anyone you’ve spoken to on that day disappears. So you have had to swap numbers to continue the conversation. They also have events where members can go to, but I’ve not tried those out yet.
So this fateful Thursday, my first go; I started talking to this one guy. Seemed nice enough a cheeky fireman who lived nearby who had the fateful DOG. In the spirit of the app we agreed to meet that day; it is Thursday after all. So as we tried to tie up a location, he implied that his dog came with him everywhere. Me being naive thinking suggesting a pub on a rainy day meant the dog would be kept at home. Well I was wrong! A few hours later we made it to the pub and of course the dog was there. A giant Labrador that spent half the evening trying to escape from where we were sitting to explore. Eventually she fell asleep and we can actually talk interrupted. Which is when I got asked how I felt about dogs in the bedroom!
It didn’t put me off completely because we had a cheeky kiss in the car park and when I got home I invited him back to mine and he returned without the dog. Then it got worse; if I could have ended it when I saw the underpants I would have. For any guys reading this, if there is any chance you will get lucky PLEASE make sure you are wearing underpants that aren’t 20 years old, baggy, misshaped, and generally ill fitting! Sadly the ugly underpants were not a one off and I’ve seen more since.
The evening went even further downhill from there when he told me his go to was missionary. Nothing wrong with that but you don’t have to tell me that on a first date. So although the dog was left behind, he set an alarm to make sure he didn’t fall asleep and leave poor doggo on her own. Not that I was inviting him to stay the night and promptly suggested he leave as I was tired and had an early start.
So with him wanting to see me again, this was definitely a one hit wonder. Although I do love dogs I have learnt to be a bit weary when a guy mentions he has a dog.
And although I've not had much joy on Thursday since, I do dabble in it from time to time.
